The planet is stuffed
CO2 emissions.
Methane emissions from melting perma-frost.
Rain-forest destruction.
Over fishing.
Habitat destruction.
Micro-plastics getting into the food chain.
Rising sea levels.
Acidification of the seas.
Extreme weather events.
Too many people to feed.

Even if we had the solutions and technology, there isn't a mechanism or the will to deploy them on a global scale in a short enough time scale. We can't even stop ivory poachers and the Japs killing wales.

Not to worry though, Trump says it's all 'fake news'.

The next 100 years will be 'interesting'. Quite glad I won't be around.

Although you'll probably have to get the factor 50 out.

It's what we deserve. Fuck me, I'm no tree hugger but obliterating our rainforests is about as retarded as you can get.

There is no will from most people to do anything that involves a sacrifice

Basically the Australian election at the weekend proved that.
The result is that there will be more coal mines and the Great Barrier Reef will be a bleached bit of coral sooner rather than later

Nothing on that list I can "like", so, fuck it.

How much of a sea rise do we think the Thames barrier can hold off?

I can see all this going tits up within the next decade, not 100 years.

Re: The planet is stuffed
We all talk about how fucked the planet is.

But what do we really do ourselves to try and turn the tide?

All in all, little to fuck all.

So let's all do what we are good at. Keep moaning about it, worry about our children's/grandchildrens futures and refuse to change a single fucking thing we do.

Re: The planet is stuffed
in all seriousness though.

Think I read that 30% of Energy used in the UK comes from renewable sources? But ww only 5% of energy consumed was renewable. Still lots of work to be done!

We are making some progress but it needs to be quicker.

China, USA and India create 50% of the worlds CO2 emissions alone.

Everybody knows that we need to do more, but when people buy cars they buy a huge 4X4 to transport their two children to school.

The destruction of the rainforest is worrying. But what is frustrating is that if managed correctly it can be easily sustained.

60% of our timber imports comes from Sweden.

each year Swedens forests grow by 30 million cubic metres..

Re: The planet is stuffed
our CO2 out put is 2% of the worlds total. We are ranked 17th in the world.

China is the problem, even the USA has reduced by 10% over the last decade.

China, India and Brasil. They don't give a fuck about what westerners say, they don't even care that their own citizens are living in smog filled hellholes.

Just enjoy the increased temperature over the coming years. I'm looking forward to Milton Keynes-on-sea and will make sure my kids enjoy their life in the sun before we ruin this world.

Is buying a small car going to make much difference compared to the amount of crap the likes of Russia, China and India are chucking in to the atmosphere?

That's what makes the Emission Zones nothing more than another tax with which to rinse the motorist.

As others have said, that vast majority of these problems come from China.

Not sure keeping Trump quiet on TWITTER matters one bit.

Sea levels have risen by around 5 inches in 100 years.

If it does the same in the next 100 years only i will be fucked. the rest of you will be fine.

They reckoned then the Barrier is good until 2070.
